blog staycation

Posted by Chloe - July 12th, 2011

I have been noticeably absent from the blog lately, so instead of prolonging the silence I wanted to report that I will be taking somewhat of a blog staycation. I will still post, but with less frequency than previously and my posts will be smaller (quick little snippets of design, pet, products I love, etc…). So things may look and feel a little different!

The Daily Wag, Canine Styles, and Some English Bulldogs

Posted by Chloe - December 19th, 2010

I was browsing around Martha Stewart’s website, specifically the pet are and found a couple of fun features/sections that I wanted to share…

First off, I have mentioned Francesca & Sharkey’s blog, The Daily Wag, before.  If you have not checked it out, it is worth a stop.  It is written from Francesca’s point of view, but is actually penned by Dr. Pia Salk.  There are always some good dog-eye-views of Martha’s farm as well, which is impressively beautiful to say the least.

Martha and her Frenchies

Through The Daily Wag I found Canine Styles, a NYC-based company that makes lifestyle goods for dogs (beds, bowls, clothing, toys, carriers, collars, etc.).  I am not big on clothes for dogs, but I love some of their other stuff; my favorites are:

The Hamptons Nesting Beds

Corduroy Crate Mat

The Eat & Drink Ceramic Diner Bowls

The Camel Leather Studded Collar

Ruff Tuff Bunny Toy

Lastly, I had to share these puppies … my sister sent me the link to the ad for this litter of English Bulldogs that are available this week.  They are dangerously cute.

Puppy Announcement! Lucy

Posted by Chloe - October 26th, 2010

————————-

Cannot wait to paint her portrait!!!

I have the great honor of welcoming into our family LUCY!

After her 1 and 1/2 year old pit/boxer, Honey, had to be put down in September, my sister began looking for a new pup.  Although no one could ever replace Honey, the new addition immediately found a place in our hearts as well.

Lucy is a pit bull.  Born to a chocolate brown pit dad and a white pit mom, Lucy is a light brown (Mocha con leche).  She is surprisingly calm and well-behaved.  We all love her so much already, especially those soulful “Mocha” eyes (they look like Mocha’s) and her little baby pot belly!

More photos to come!  And eventually a Lucy portrait!

Rampage! Puppy Announcement

Posted by Chloe - July 29th, 2010

As a tribute to the special dogs (and puppies) that come into my life by way of joining families of people I know, I have decided that from time to time I will post a Puppy Announcements.  This first puppy announcement was inspired by my good friend, Emily’s addition to her already busy family.

Emily and her husband, John have two amazing young boys and one on the way.  Their sweet dog Tyson passed away at the end of 2009 (you can see his RIP portrait here) and John had been wanting to get a new pup ever since. A few weeks ago, they had a bundle of joy in the form of their new chocolate lab/pit bull mix puppy join the family.  They got their new pup from the shelter in Aztec, NM.  Mama, a golden-colored pit had given birth to a litter of 8 pups, 5 girls and 3 boys.  All the pups came out looking mostly like chocolate labs, although some had a few white spots.

Named Rampage by Vincent, Emily’s son, this pup is soooo cute.  Mocha and I got to meet him for the first time today.  I fell in love; Mocha was rather indifferent.

I snapped a few photos to share:

Obviously, Rampage is going to need a puppy portrait sooner rather than later – so check back!
